What's On
Gifts of life
Legacy Officer Miriam Murphy tells us about the exclusive events of our Philanthropy Programmes.
Legacy Society
We have created the Legacy Society as a way of saying thank you for the incredible gesture of remembering BBOWT in your will. Receive an annual digital newsletter (or posted on request) and invitations to special behind-the-scenes events to meet up and enjoy the wildlife we all love, together.
Upcoming events include a guided walk at Sutton Courtenay Environmental Education Centre and a talk at Reading Town Hall by Jon Mason, the Early Birder, looking at his wonderful photographs of our nature reserves
Major Gifts Programme
For gifts of more than £500 over two years you can enjoy a special relationship with BBOWT. Through three walks and talks each year on our nature reserves you will meet the key members of our team delivering conservation on our reserves and get a rarely seen look at some of our most vital work.
Meles Circle
This innovative programme seeks to bring together high-level supporters (annual donations of over £5,000 or through funding specific projects) who care deeply about the nature crisis and have the ability to help us solve the problems we face to accelerate our impact.
The Meles Circle will be invited to unique, thought-provoking events to hear from renowned environmental speakers and our senior team at the most inspiring locations.
Events highlights
Day
Camps
Plan ahead for the school holidays and banish the boredom by booking your youngsters onto one of our Day Camps. These full-day sessions for 8-12-year-olds invite children to engage with wildlife science through hands-on activities, games and exploration. From den building and pond dipping to tracking wildlife, these days are packed with adventure, away from parents and sure to inspire a lifelong love of nature.
Dawn chorus walks
The early bird catches the worm! Experience the full glory of the dawn chorus this spring on a guided walk from one of our Environmental Education Centres. Stir at the crack of dawn and take a gentle stroll through the woods and meadows to find out who is singing with the help of our expert bird walk leaders. There’s nothing like an early start to work up an appetite, so each session finishes with pastries and hot drinks.
Night
Safari
Who knows what you might see or hear exploring our Sutton Courtenay reserve after dark? Get to grips with bat detectors to hear bats hunting overhead and use lamps to spot newts and frogs in the ponds. Help our nature reserve team check the small mammal traps and have a look at the moth trap to find out how we monitor and survey these amazing insects!
